Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Shares Hard-Fought Journey to Include One Extremely Specific Feature

CD Projekt Red developer has detailed their laborious journey of designing an extremely novel feature in Cyberpunk 2077.

Leszek Krupinski, lead of online services for Cyberpunk 2077 and 2.11 versions respectively, published a detailed article detailing his process of adding an audible “munch munch” sound when protagonist V takes a bite off an item in Cyberpunk 2077 menus; these sounds also existed when players traveled internationally consuming food; now these menu sounds have made their debut!

“This version includes a tiny thing, a tiny feature I’ve poured my heart into,” Krupinski started, and revealed that the inspiration for his work was derived directly from the Niezatapialni podcast, which features hosts who constantly ask to include this feature.

“Yes, the lack of this was an omission, but I dunno if it wasn’t noticed, or the priority was low, so it was never added,” Krupinski continued. “I am determined to take action. It was beyond the scope of my job, however I did start asking about it. I asked producers and release managers to see if it’s still possible to add additional features (it was just after 2.0 was launched) However, they did not immediately say no which meant there was a possibility.

“I put on a producer hat and started discussions with sound designers and the UI team. And this week I’ve installed the patch, and there it is. My most meaningful impact on Cyberpunk 2077: when you eat stuff in the inventory, you hear ‘munch munch’. I can die in peace now.”

Update 2.11 has also addressed numerous balance and bugs within open world role-playing game RPG It’s Really Nice to Be in the House, including dashes, melee finishers transforming into crouches, incorrect upgrading items as well as incorrect car chase frequency alterations from CD Projekt Red as well as fixes where players were not able to rest after finishing quest It’s Really Nice to Be in the House.

Following Update 2.0’s dramatic overhaul, which introduced features such as a brand new perk system and upgraded AI, and providing closure on an Elon Musk fan theory (related to Ken Block and Ken’s death in racing), as well as adding weird twists to an already legendary mystery, Update 2.1 came later including features such as romantic partners hangouts, vehicle availability changes and much more!
